Deadline Day!

Well, here we are, day after deadline day. It's close but clearly we aren't done with the Little House just yet. John from MNH worked all day painting. He got the kitchen and the living room walls nearly finished. I was meant to be there helping today and yesterday but I wasn't there. Here is why...

July 10th was my deadline date because a group of special children and dear friends were going to be in the area a few days later. I hadn't seen them in years and if there was any chance of seeing them I wanted to be sure it happened. I offered to let them stay in my Little House if that would make a visit from them more possible, knowing we *could* get the house finished in time if need be. They were able to make it but ended up coming the day before my deadline day. Thanks to the hospitality of other dear friends the His Little Feet children's choir and staff were able to be hosted in a fully finished and furnished home! I chose to drop everything and spend every minute I could with all of them. Having them here was the point of finishing and since they were able to be here without having the house finished, the deadline didn't matter anymore.

I was able to show the Little House to one sweet out of town friend before the visit was up. This little place was provided by the Lord and the blessing of it has been and, I trust, will be, more of a blessing than I can fathom. The way the Body has surrounded me with encouragement and has rejoiced with me in this step, this season of life, has been sweeter than sweet. I cannot wait to be able to really share the gift of the House with others!

little house THREE

December 27, 2014 I moved into Little House TWO and began cleaning, painting, and decorating it. Exactly two years later my husband, of just less than a year, and I -- seven months pregnant, and our Great Pyrenees dog, Barley James, moved into Little House THREE. When we moved out of the second Little House we sold most of our furniture and purged out a lot of other belongings. What we had left -- with the latest addition of a few practical pieces of furniture and some things for Baby O -- is what we unpacked into the third Little House. The apartment you see is as we found it except for three small improvements: hanging a towel hook near the sink in the bathroom, as well as the pot and the knife rack in the kitchen. A small apartment that isn't much to look at and our minimal belongings have come together to make a very cozy home -- just in time for us to become a three-some.

Before >> little house FOUR

At the same time that we were about to move into what would become Little House Three God spoke to Luke and I separately. He told Luke to move us to Kansas City in a short amount of time, and He told me that He had "just the place" for us. As we moved forward with the Kansas City leading we spent ample time house hunting. Adventure after adventure for months with nothing actually coming together. We took the leap anyway and ended up moving into this place sight-unseen the day we moved to KC. I had scrolled through some of the images of this townhouse on the property manager's website but had passed it by knowing it was out of our budget. When the place we'd applied for wasn't a good fit though the guys offered us this place at a slight discount. Turned out to have been vacant for some time and while the amenities sell it it was dated and worn, as you can see below. Still, it was the place I had dreamed of and better still for it to be a project -- a blank slate …
