Deadline Day!

Well, here we are, day after deadline day. It's close but clearly we aren't done with the Little House just yet. John from MNH worked all day painting. He got the kitchen and the living room walls nearly finished. I was meant to be there helping today and yesterday but I wasn't there. Here is why...

July 10th was my deadline date because a group of special children and dear friends were going to be in the area a few days later. I hadn't seen them in years and if there was any chance of seeing them I wanted to be sure it happened. I offered to let them stay in my Little House if that would make a visit from them more possible, knowing we *could* get the house finished in time if need be. They were able to make it but ended up coming the day before my deadline day. Thanks to the hospitality of other dear friends the His Little Feet children's choir and staff were able to be hosted in a fully finished and furnished home! I chose to drop everything and spend every minute I could with all of them. Having them here was the point of finishing and since they were able to be here without having the house finished, the deadline didn't matter anymore.

I was able to show the Little House to one sweet out of town friend before the visit was up. This little place was provided by the Lord and the blessing of it has been and, I trust, will be, more of a blessing than I can fathom. The way the Body has surrounded me with encouragement and has rejoiced with me in this step, this season of life, has been sweeter than sweet. I cannot wait to be able to really share the gift of the House with others!

It's been several weeks...

{click post title to view all photos} Weeks have passed and here we are... still need to prime the trim in the main level in almost every room, then paint it, then paint the walls, then clean from top to bottom and finally get all set up and settled in. I have just been overwhelmed by coming into my house and seeing what is left to be done. I am so. close. to. finishing. but I am so *over* picking away at the project. It's not that it isn't fun to get it finished the way I want and its not that I think I can just stop working on it and it will get finished on its own (though I have greatly desired that to be the case) but I am just being real... after months of slow remodeling you reach a point where you are just, done. Happy day though! While I was away in Colorado on a trip my kitchen cabinets were installed by the MyNextHome crew. That is incredibly exciting and encouraging. Isn't it lovely?! Ah! I just love it. I still need to find a co

Moment of truth //

{click post title to view all photos} This may be my remodel vision, and it may be the work of myself and the MyNextHome crew making it a reality, but this little house is the Lord's. He promised me a place of my own and then Dad found it. He provided the funding for it and the financing advantages, because His timing is perfect and He can change hearts. When I needed something, like an encouraging presence or a helping hand, He sent servant-hearted people who love me. When we didn't have the time to wait to order my cabinets until they were on sale, the day we ordered them "coincidentally" was during the week they *were* on sale. Kitchen with the wall that had just been built, moved to where it's meant to be. [see previous post for full story] I'm making mistakes, it sometimes seems that there are miscommunications happening as steadily as the progress we are making (that just comes with a territory) and, as it is a remodel, we keep unearthing
